Welcome to our siteA UK rescue refuge for ferrets, be they lost, unwanted, old or sick. We are a non profit charity based in Braintree, Essex, England and look after ferrets that have been found. We are recognised by the local RSPCA who contact us whenever they come across a lost ferret in need of looking after. Unfortunately ferrets cannot be returned to the wild as they are not strictly wild creatures in this country. Ferrets were brought here by the Romans to hunt out rodents, rabbits etc., and were especially bred for this purpose. So as such, they are a domestic animal like the cat or dog and would find it hard to survive on their own in the wild. Another myth about the ferret is that people believe they are a rodent like the rat. This is completely untrue as they are a carniverous mammal with canine teeth. Phone: 01376 321213 |
